I am way too obsessed with Neko Case's music right now.  This song gave me chills the first time I heard it.

and I'm also currently loving "Speakerphone" by Rebecca Moore.  She sounds just like Fiona Apple, who's lyrics read like my life.  She's also an incredibly sweet person so everyone support her music!

tomorrow I'm seeing It's Complicated with Courtney, and I'm quite excited to see Meryl Streep act like a total slut.  I hope everyone has had a beautiful weekend!!!

I don't have what it takes to stay with you
And I'm leaving in under ten days, it's not what I'd planned
But anyway, you know, by and large anywhere I go
I won't find anyone who loves me enough to make you look bad

All the cars on the road are driving away from here
But I'm still looking under my nose to see who I am
But anywhere I go, standing at any kind of show
I won't find anyone who'll tell me what I need to know
That's not how it's done

But anyway, you know, by and large anywhere I go
I won't find anyone who loves me enough

If I ever pay you back
If my money and wallet's intact
I'll probably be in a box lying down
Loosely suited in black

If I ever pay you back
If my money and wallet's intact
I'll probably be in a box lying down

New layout!!! You like?

I decided to stay in Nashville for an extra week so I can do some fun things like see Fellini's 8 1/2 this weekend and do more record/art shopping but I'm hoping I won't regret this decision due to my grandparents being kind of crazy right now.

Anyways, I saw Nine last night.  It was fabulous in certain parts, but such a hot mess.  I enjoyed some of the music but Daniel Day Lewis was terribly miscast and all I could think of when I watched him was that it was Daniel Day Lewis desperately trying to play a charming womanizer and his character had to be one of the most hateful characters in film right now.  Marion Cotillard was lovely though and one of the few actors in it who actually made you believe and sympathize with her character.   I liked Nicole Kidman too... But some of the songs were just out of place and unnecessary (although everything about the film was gorgeous) with Fergie's and Marion's songs being the only memorable ones.  Overall I'd say see it, but it's really not worthy of any awards other than the acting from Marion.

I'm also kind of warming to the idea of seeing Avatar after all of the hype surrounding it, but honestly I'm just not as excited about award season this year and I'm ALWAYS excited for it.  It's just been a disappointing year for films.  Other than Jennifer's Body and 500 Days of Summer there was no movie I saw that just completely blew the right side of my brain off.  And all of the films coming out as Oscar bait just seem pretentious and smug, and there's no one I like in any of the films. So disappointing.

Has anyone seen anything good recently?  There's nothing out right now I'm just DYING to see so please fill me in if you know of anything.

yesterday i got this:
http://www.jackassworld.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/fuji_instax_200_540.jpg
it's freakin rad as anything and i'm so excited that i can finally start taking instant ~vintage~ pictures. it's also direct from japan because apparently they were JUST made so everything on the box and film packages is in japanese.

i'm going back to grimeys today because i just found out that they will trade you cds/records for any gift cards you have to places like target, best buy, walmart etc so i'm probably going to be getting this sick michael jackson remix vinyl i saw the other day from when he was with the jackson five.

i finished The L Word season 4 last night and i'm probably going to have to rush out and buy season 5 as soon as i can because i'm very, very obsessed. i'm also in love with leisha hailey which is sad because she's a lez in real life. but whatever, i think she's one of the coolest chicks ever and her music is life changing too.

"When I look back and listen [to the Murmurs], I'm full of pride because what we did is incredible. We were so young. I met Heather [Grody] when I was 17, I'd just moved to New York. What I hear the most is our innocence, and I think that was what was magical about us. It was such a different time. Ten years later we were jaded and frustrated and lost. When I look back at what we did in the very, very beginning, it's hard for me to listen to sometimes because I'm like, "Oh my God, we sound like The Chipmunks!" I can't believe we did that, I can't believe we wrote that, what were we thinking? At the same time, I think it's the coolest thing ever, that we wrote music and put it out there and didn't think twice about it. We were playing all around the East Village, for like every single drag queen that ever lived there. We were just doing these really different kinds of venues. And we always had our guitars on our backs, wherever we were going in New York. Even if we were on a scooter or if we were walking ten miles, we always had them. We played the subways, I mean, we did it all. And the whole time I was doing it with my best friend, and it was magic."

quite simply, i want her life.
